2026 Finlayson Signs with Dyersburg State
Senior Callie Finlayson has signed a letter of intent to play both softball and volleyball for the Dyersburg State Lady Eagles. Finlayson is the centerfielder for the Lady Cats Softball team, and was an integral part of their state championship her freshman year and state tourney appearance this past year. She is also a Right Side Hitter for volleyball, and was named to the All District team this year. She had previously been named as honorable mention for the Daily Corinthian's All-Area Team in 2023, to their Second Team in 2024, and to the All District Tournament Team in 2024, all in volleyball.
Callie is the daughter of Jenny Finlayson and John Finlayson, and the sister of Addison Finlayson, Emma Finlayson and Johnny Roy (Trey) Finlayson III. She is also pictured with Stepmom Valerie Finlayson, Mimi Kathy Finlayson, Nana Patricia and Pappy Jerry Matlock, and a host of family and friends. Also pictured are MCHS Principal Jason Newman and Athletic Director Brian Franks, and MCHS Coaches Mellanie Surratt, Meg Day, Steve King, Ross Shelton and Jimmy Ray.
Callie plans to major in accounting, with plans of becoming a Certified Public Accountant. Her favorite softball memory is definitely winning the state championship. The Lady Cats are gearing toward another run at the gold ball. Toward that goal, Callie wants to be "encouraging to her teammates and make sure that nobody gets down, that kind of stuff can snowball." Her favorite volleyball memories are the friendships and fun she's had with her teammates.
