3.1 Print a Document
Exercise A
- Save Exercise 3-1a to your folder
- Open the file, then print the entire document using the Print button on
the Standard toolbar.
- Print two copies of pages 2-3 of the five-page document.
Exercise B
- Save Exercises 3-1b and 3-1c to your folder.
- Select the two files from your folder. Use the Open dialog box to
print both documents.
3.2 Use Print Preview
Exercise A
- Open Exercise 3-1b and switch to Print Preview.
- Edit the document to change the side heading Font Size to Choosing a
Font.
- Delete the last side heading, Mixing Typefaces
- Print the document from Print Preview.
- Save the finished file.
3.3 Using Web Page Preview
Exercise A
- Save Exercise 3-3a to your folder
- Preview the document in Web Page Preview.
- Notice that the telephone and fax information wraps in an unattractive
manner when the browser is not maximized. Close the browser.
- Delete the bullet list between the telephone and fax information. Place
the fax information on a new line below the telephone information.
- Preview the document in Web Page Preview to check the format. Close the
browser.
- Save the finished file.
3.4 Navigate Through a Document

- Open Exercise 3-1a
- Use Browse Object by Page to browse through the document one page at a
time.
- When you reach the end of the document, use the scroll bar to return to
the top of the document.
- Close the document
Exercise B
- Save Exercise 3-4a to your folder.
- Display the document map.
- Use the document map to move to the heading Insurable Risks
- Use the document map to move back to the heading Purpose.
- Close the document
3.5 Insert Page Numbers
Exercise A
- Save Exercise 3-5a to your folder
- Insert Page numbers at the top right side. Do not number the first page.
- Save the finished file.
3.6 Set Page Orientation
Exercise A
- Save Exercise 3-6a to your folder.
- Change the page orientation to landscape
- Preview the document to check the layout.
- Save the finished file.
3.7 Set Margin
Exercise A
- Save Exercise 3-7a to your folder.
- Use Page Setup to change top and bottom margins for the entire document
to 1.5" and side margins to 1.25"
- Save the finished file
Exercise B
- Save Exercise 3-7b to your folder.
- Go to the last page of the document.
- Use Page Setup to change side margins for the Reference heading and text
to 2". Go to Normal view and delete the page break below the last hyperlink
to paginate the document.
- Save the finished file.
3.8 Use Go To to Locate Specific Elements
in a Document
Exercise A
- Save Exercise 3-8a to your folder.
- Use the Go To function to move to the following locations. Record the
information requested in a new blank document. Save the new file as
Exercise 3-8aquestions.
- Table 1 - the name of the table is?
- Section 3 - the heading at the top of the page is?
- Second comment by any reviewer. The initials of the reviewer are?
- Move to the previous comment. The initials of the reviewer are?
- Footnote 2. This footnote relates to?
3.9 Create and Modify Page Numbers
Exercise A
- Save Exercise 3-9a to your folder.
- Insert running total page numbers at the center of the header.
- Suppress the page number on the first page.
- View the header in Print Preview view to see how it will appear when it
is printed
- Modify the running total page numbers to position the numbers at the
right margin of the header.
- Show the page number on the first page.
- Save the finished file.
3.10 Create and Modify Headers and Footers
Exercise A
- Open Exercise 3-9a
- Insert a border consisting of a single line in the top position as a
header.
- Insert a footer with your name positioned at the left margin, the page
number in the center, and the date positioned at the right margin.
- Preview the document
- Modify the footer by adding a border consisting a single line in the top
position to the footer so that it appears above your name, the page number
and the date.
- Save the finished file.
Exercise B
- Open a new blank document. Create a header you could use as
letterhead for your correspondence. The header should include your
name, address and telephone number.
- Add an appropriate graphic to the header.
- Save as letterhead.
3.11 Align Text Vertically

- Save Exercise 3-11a to your folder
- Change the vertical alignment of the text to Justify.
- Preview the document.
- Change the vertical alignment of the text to center.
- Save the finished file
3.12 Create and Use Newspaper Columns
Exercise A
- Save Exercise 3-12a to your folder
- Format the document for two equal columns.
- Format the title as a banner head using a large font size, bold and
center alignment.
- Preview the document; adjust format if necessary. You may need to add or
remove line spaces near the banner heading so the top of each column begins
in the same vertical position.
- Balance the columns.
- Save the finished file.
3.13 Revise Column Structure
Exercise A
- Save Exercise 3-13a to your folder
- Position the insertion point at the beginning of the date.
- From this point forward, change the column structure to three columns.
Make the first column 1.5" wide and the second and third columns 2.25" wide.
- Place a line between columns.
- Insert a column break just before the heading New Development
Project.
- Preview the document and make minor spacing adjustments as needed for an
attractive format.
- Save the finished file.
3.14 Prepare and Print Envelopes and Labels
Exercise A
- Create and print envelopes using the two names and addresses below.
Include a deliver point barcode and omit a return address.
- Create and print a single label for each name and address. Use Avery,
Product #5962. Print the label in Row 4, Column 2 for the first label and
Row 5, column 1 for the second label.
- Create and print a file folder label for each of the two companies in
the addresses below. Use Avery Label, Product #5366.
- Create and print an entire page of labels using your name and address.
Use Aver, Product #5160.

3.15 Apply Styles
Exercise A
- Save Exercise 3-15a to your folder.
- Apply the style Heading 1 to the main title, STYLES
- Apply the style Heading 2 to the headings Built-In Styles and
Style Usage
- Apply the Style Heading 3 to the Paragraph Style and Character
Style.
- Save the finished file.
3.16 Create Sections with Formatting that
Differs from Other Sections
Exercise A
- Save Exercise 3-16a to your folder
- Insert a Page Break after Current date on the title page and
after the transmittal memo.
- Insert a next page section break after the last line of the table of
contents.
- Insert a continuous section break before Table 1.
- Insert an odd page section break before the heading DEVELOPERS.
Format the section containing information about developers for two equal
columns.
- Insert a column break before the heading SPONSORS.
- Save the finished file.
3.17 Use Click and Type
Exercise A
- Open a new blank document.
- Use Click and Type to key TITLE about two inches from the top of the
page and near the horizontal center of the page.
- Use Click and Type to key your name about three inches from the top of
the page at the right margin.
- Use Click and Type to insert a pencil symbol (Wingdings, first row,
second from left) in any blank area below your name.
