  • Three ring binder
  • Loose paper
  • Pencils/ pens

Description:

This English class will cover basic grammar skills, provide practice and preparation for state testing, and examine the components necessary to write a competent five paragraph essay.  A vocabulary list will also be given out on a weekly basis. There will be a vocabulary quiz at the end of each week.  Students are responsible for reading one book outside of class each nine weeks.  The literature covered will be a variety of short stories, poetry, essays, and novels.  All students are responsible for completing a satisfactory research project that includes a paper and presentation.

Folder:

Students are responsible for maintaining a folder and bringing it to class EVERYDAY.  All notes, work and handouts will be filed in this folder.  Random checks will be made throughout the semester.  It is very important that students keep all work and handouts in the folder to use during class time.

Evaluation:

Grades will come from class participation, daily exercises, writing assignments, and tests.  The End-Of-Course English II test given by the state will count as 20% of the overall grade.  The research project is a requirement for the course as well.  This is policy for all English classes at MCHS.  No credit will be given without a satisfactory research paper and presentation.
