MCHS Senior Casey Akin signed a football scholarship with Carson-Newman College on February 1, 2012. Carson-Newman is a four-year liberal arts school affiliated with the Southern Baptist Convention. It is a NCAA Division II school that
competes in the South Atlantic Conference. CNC is located in Jefferson City, about 25 miles from Knoxville.

"Casey's ability to play multiple positions is what made him an attractive prospect," stated Bobcat Head Coach Jim Glover. "This year he's played as a running back, wide receiver, backup quarterback, secondary offensive lineman, and punter. He will be playing for legendary coach Ken Sparks at Carson-Newman."

Akin plans to major in pre-med with hopes of becoming a doctor specializing in sports medicine. Shown with Akin are his parents, Scott and Keri Akin, Head Coach Jim Glover, Jake Kiser and Michael Stroup.
